Concrete aggregate from slag ashes
When residual waste is incinerated, various non-combustible materials are left behind: ashes and slags, bricks, ceramics – and also metals such as iron, aluminum and copper. With Brantner Slagtory technology, even the smallest metals, the thickness of a human hair, can be removed from the slag. These are crushed, washed, sieved and the metals and salts removed. Approximately 80% of the resulting ashes and slags can be recycled and does not have to be disposed of in landfills. This saves large amounts of CO2.
The processed slag is so clean after the process that it can be used for concrete production or in sustainable road construction. The material has similar properties to conventional concrete aggregates, which makes it suitable for use in concrete. The research and development of aggregates from slags and ashes can contribute to more sustainable concrete production and promote a circular economy.
